Cay: US BOD tried to screw Black

Media tycoon Conrad Black, in court seeking approval to sell control of his newspaper chain, which includes a 40 percent interest in Cayman Free Press, said the company's US-based board of directors was out to "inflict maximum damage" on him.

The appearance capped a three-day trial pitting the Canadian-born Black against a rebellious US operating subsidiary's board, which seeks to block the sale he engineered to British investors Frederick and David Barclay.
