Polls

Kerry vs Bush, 48-46 percent says the Fox News reader. Does that figure mean anything significant?

I would argue, not. For one, President Bush has not begun to campaign. The way he is conducting himself, with regard to Democrat attacks against him, presents an interesting contrast to his predecessor. Bush has no rapid response team.

When the Dems decide which of their odd assortment of characters they really think can beat Bush, then we'll see Republican fire. Until then, Bush is wise to keep his powder dry, wise to keep his money in his pocket.

The most he should do is run ads reflecting on how his administration has benefitted this country. Attack ads? Lay out the truth about the Dem candidate: weak on national defense, weak on taxes, strong on kow-towing to the U. N., strong on toadying to the Europeans (meaning France, Germany, and Brussels)

Those polls will only mean something when Bush seriously begins to campaign;then, the only numbers that will matter will be the numbers from the Electoral College.
