St. Kts: Time for a change of government
Enough is enough, say Kittsians and Nevisians.
In 1999 Prime Minister Douglas, shortly before commissioning two brand new generators as part of his government’s electricity expansion program, made these statements:
“The use of electrical power is a primary ingredient in the developmentof St. Kitts and Nevis. But power is also a central ingredient in our Party’s conception of social development. Power in that context means providing increase capacity for persons o earn more;
...
Nearly 5 years have gone since these statements were made and we are now in a position to judge whether this speech was merely ‘a wordical operation’ or whether it truly reflects the Labour government’s performance.
It is clear from the regular almost daily outages of electricity that they have failed to provide in any efficient or effective manner “the primary ingredient in our development”. Could we truly state that our development is still taking place without adequate supplies of this primary ingredient?
