U.S.: Dimanche Gras --> J'Ouvert morning

Tonight, Dimanche Gras, is party, fete, jump up, bacchanal. From the Dimanche Gras show in Port of Spain to a fete, from a fete to the road, joining the crowds that will be gathered waiting for the sound of the iron and the bell that signal J'Ouvert (Jouvay). The opening of Carnival.

The streets are jumping and pumping with soca and chutney. DJs with monster speakers are positioned at strategic corners of Port of Spain and San Fernando. Want to dance? No need to go to a party. Party in the street. Grab a bottle of beer, grab your woman, drink, wine, sing, jump up. Badden your head and get on bad. Jump up and get on bad! Grab a woman, if you're a man. Women, grab a man. Better yet, do like Denise Belfon and grab an Indian man. Find an Indian man and jam and wine. Sing along with Denise:
Tonight I looking for an Indian man
Yes, I calling for an Indian man
I want you hold on me an jam
Inside the session
Yes, you Mr Indian man
I really looking for an Indian brute
Rough and tough and sexy, smart and cute
An if you have a dhal belly
Then better fete for me
Chunkay there, now let me see
Chunkay me curry
Chunkay me dhal
If you come from Port of Spain
Or you come from Penal
WAIST-is what you want from me
WINE-is what you want to see
WAIST-is what does make you scream
WINE-is what you want to feel
I looking for: an Indian man
I feeling for: an Indian man
I gotta get: an Indian man
I gotta have: an Indian man
I searching for: an Indian man
I hungry for: an Indian man
I thirsty for: an Indian man
I yearning for: an Indian man

As man, Indian men going to be under plenty pressure this Carnival. Heat in the place! All the women out there going to be looking for an Indian man! Trinidad too sweet again!

At 5 AM, sound the iron and ring the bell! Tang!tang!tang!
GOOD MORNING!
J'OUVERT MORNING!
GOOD J'OUVERT MORNING!!!

Madness on the streets of Trinidad. J'Ouvert! The opening of the two day Carnival. Mud mas. Diab'-diab'. Old time masqueraders. DJs on slow moving music trucks. Steelbands. People. Noise. Rum. Beer. Wining. Dancing. Jump up. Some drunk. Some sober. Some dancing. Some wining, in time, out of time. Madness is gladness! Play yourself! Find your steelband and jump up for the Bomb Competition.

Tired? What tired? It's Carnival; you can't afford to get tired. Swallow vitamins, wear track shoes, swallow a pack of Duracell. Heat in the place! Heat in the place!
