Cuba: Keeping count of the whores and homosexuals

Police in the town of Managua, on the outskirts of Havana, are taking a census of prostitutes and homosexuals.

Manuel, a homosexual who lives in Managua, said the police sector chief, one William Hernández, showed up at his home and took down personal information on himself and his parents. Manuel said the officer told him: "This is an order from above, for all those like you, male and female, and prostitutes."

Police started the census after a visible increase in their presence in the town. They are now patrolling in groups of threes and fours.
