Gya: Water supply investment

Government is to invest $1.5 billion this year to upgrade and improve potable supply in several communities including Eccles. La Bonne Intention (LBI) and Bartica among others.

Under the water project there will be purchase of supplies for minor water systems; final payments for major water systems at LBI, Eccles and Bartica; development of a billing system and hygiene promotion; provision for management assistance, financial review, design and supervision and operational support. The sum of $741M has been earmarked for these undertakings, which began in December last year and scheduled to be completed by the end of this year.
