Ja: Mending fences

Jamaica and Canada yesterday appeared to have begun to put their relationship back on track after their spat over Haiti, with both sides saying that their friendship is too important to be derailed by such differences.

The Jamaican government also said last night that Kingston and Ottawa had pledged to co-operate on efforts to restore stability in Haiti in the aftermath of what Jamaica believes was effectively a coup d'etat against Haiti's president, Jean-Bertrand Aristide, but what the Canadians hold was a resignation.
