St. Kts: Eating for two with AIDS

WASHINGTON, DC - The critical link between HIV/AIDS and nutrition was forcefully put by the head of a private development organisation on the Voice of America Radio Service.

"A person living with HIV/AIDS has to eat for two people," Lelei LeLaulu, president and chief executive officer of Counterpart International reported. Lelallu added, "And it is imperative for us in the development spheres to ensure food security and nutrition are recognised as an integral part of the HIV/AIDS pandemic.

"People have to realise the extent of the damage. Families are being decapitated and societies are being shredded by HIV/AIDS. We have to ensure people with HIV/AIDS, and their families, are given the means to feed themselves - to help their bodies and their communities fight the pandemic
