TT: Trini mujahids a damn joke
I've a friend who likes to say "joke is joke, but damn joke is no joke," which is to say deadly serious. Well, TT has a damn joke situation on its hands. Having been down the terrorist road already in 1990, citizens of TT are, no doubt, not anxious to traverse it again. I still contend, after all these years, that TT is living with its Acting President's gutless decision to make a deal with Yasin Abu Bakr (who staged the coup) in exchange for the life of PM A.N.R. Robinson, who was Churchillian in his refusal to let the terrorists take a walk.Acting Police Commissioner Trevor Paul has dispelled views that the TT Police Service is not overly concerned about the recent discovery of possible terrorist equipment in the possession of two men and a woman in a house at Harding Place, Cocorite on Friday morning. “We take a very serious look when we findĀ one gun, far less with what has been found. It has heightened our concern. What was found there points to the possibility of terrorist and terrorist training in Trinidad. We are very concerned about this bomb making find and the information coming to hand. While I cannot say more, I will just add that the intelligence department is doing its job and we will see where it leads,” said Paul. What other intent have these men but the forced conversion of TT to Islam? Robbery? Robberies occur every day in TT, a quick look at the news will confirm that. Nobody needs bombs, chemicals, and the kind of weaponry these men had to rob banks or average citizens. Murder? Regrettably, murder is also a daily fact of life. The man who has a gun uses it; the man who doesn't chops with a cutlass. What need is there of bombs and chemicals unless the intent is to kill as many people as possible in one attack? In a word, terrorism. What is the goal of Islamic terrorism in TT? The same as it is in Israel, in the U.S., in Spain, in Russia, and in Australia -- the global domination of Islam and the imposition of shari'ah law. Who could live with that?

The trio, who is reportedly linked to the Jamaat-al-Muslimeen, claimed they bought the items from a man two weeks ago in East Trinidad, who is also training them in the use of the weapons and the manufacture of bombs. The chemicals and weapons have been handed over to intelligence agencies for further investigations and tests. Sources also confirmed that the trio and the house were under surveillance for a number of months, but police did not realise the size of operation and the amount of equipment and weapons the trio possessed. When contacted Minister of National Security Martin Joseph said straight away, “No comment, I have no comment to make on that issue.”
