Gya: Reeaz Khan, 37, files perjury charge against mother of his lover, 13

ANOTHER chapter in the saga surrounding businessman Reeaz Khan and his controversial sexual relationship with an under-age teen was written yesterday when Bibi Shameeza Hamid, mother of the girl, appeared in Court to answer a private criminal perjury charge he filed against her.

The accused was not required to plea in the indictable case and was allowed pre-trial freedom on her own recognisance by Principal Magistrate Cecil Sullivan.

Particulars of the offence said Hamid, being the deponent in a notice of motion, knowingly and falsely stated in a sworn affidavit, last June 7 in Georgetown, that a marshal served an order by High Court Judge B.S. Roy on Khan, at his Lot 37 Camp Street business place, Reeaz Trading Enterprise.

Hamid's appearance followed the withdrawal of an arrest warrant issued earlier yesterday, on an application by Khan's lawyer, Mr Vic Puran.
