PR: Just once

When Vice President Dick Cheney visits Puerto Rico next week, religious, labor, and community leaders will protest against United States’ war policy.

Just once, it would be nice if Puerto Rico could support the U.S. just a little in exchange for all those U.S. taxpayer dollars that the island gets. That would be too much to hope for because it is easier for Puerto Rico to join the anti-U.S. bandwagon. That millions of Iraqis have an opportunity for a decent life is immaterial. What matters to these dissenters is that the U.S. should not exercise its military might in defense of itself, either pre-emptively or otherwise. Puerto Rico and the other anti-war protesters prefer mass graves to a just war; they prefer durance vile to freedom; they prefer that Islamist terrorists have free rein rather than that the U.S. sacrifice blood and treasure to withstand the Islamic horde. Thank God they may protest but have no power to change U.S. policy.
