Atg: Election Commission's getting jijiree

The Antigua & Barbuda Electoral Commission will be receiving the $1.6 million necessary for preparations for the general elections today, an official in the Ministry of Finance said yesterday.
...
Even with this newest bit of news from the Ministry of Finance, Deputy Commissioner of the Electoral Commission Bruce Goodwin said he was not holding his breath.
...
The delay, he said, was preventing the commission from making the necessary preparations for the general elections.

"We are virtually in a panic, because elections are due in a few weeks and we have not yet ordered any of the merchandise as required. We are in a crisis situation. It is an extremely urgent matter.

"We are very apprehensive that the funds, when released, will be too late to enable us to work with or accomplish plans that we had already laid out," the deputy commissioner stressed.
