Wood also revealed that exploratory talks are ongoing with private sector interests over the “importation of compressed natural gas from Trinidad”. The minister stated that it will “entail the use of new technology to transport the gas and the negotiating of gas prices with Trinidad that would make this venture worthwhile”. He added that a feasibility study for the venture had already been completed. “The use of private sector investment in such an undertaking is in keeping with Government’s thrust to ensure that future economic growth is spurred by private sector activity,” he said.
