T&T: Bomb competition

Pan is coming back into Carnival again.

Next band is either Half and Half or Harvard Harps. They have that long time, classic sound of steelbands of old. They're playing an oldie and goodie. The commentator didn't mention the name of the piece; I know it but can't remember it. Sounds like a Dean Martin song, something Italian. Ah, the piece was Back to Sorrento.

The main theme is clearly discernible. The pan is more prominent than the rhythm section, a deficiency with the previous two bands I heard. The arranger didn't get as creative as that of Worldwide, but his arrangement is still solid. Lots of stops. He's got a transitional passage with some staccato.

The guest commentator says the folks in this band are more senior, most of them over 60.
