T&T: Smart's marbles bigger than Manning's

Prime Minister Patrick Manning may have given it his blessings, but Town and Country Planning director Carol Smart has described as an example of anarchy the controversial and unauthorised community centre in Canada, Laventille.

"I would say there are rules and laws, and what we want for people in Trinidad and Tobago is for them to be law-abiding, and not do what they want," she told the Sunday Express on Friday.

Contractor Hafeez Karamath is unrepentant about his construction of the unauthorised building in Laventille, but insists he's not in favour of ignoring the regulations in the Town and Country Planning Act.

Oh, no, no, no. He's not in favor of ignoring Town and Country regulations; he just won't pay attention to or abide by them. Big difference!
