Bdos: Tourist fishermen

When all is said and done, this is about international law, territorial sovereignty, and economics. The claim of Joseph Mason, father of one of the men arrested, that T&T and Barbados are the same nation, that is so laughable it's ridiculous. While both countries have much in common and have strong trade relations with each other, to describe them as "the same nation" is a woeful oversimplification which mocks the at the need for a proper resolution of the problem. If Mason said this for the sake of convenience -- I mean, they what were the boats doing in T&T's waters? -- it's not going to hold much water with Tobagonian fishermen who have said this.
The crew of two more Barbadian fishing boats have been arrested in Trinidad and Tobago waters and their families are calling on Prime Ministers Owen Arthur and Patrick Manning to put their differences aside and bring an end to their suffering.

Their comments came shortly after they received news that the two boats, Be Boys and the Elretes, registered under the numbers P16 and P28, respectively, were intercepted by the Trinidadian Coast Guard around 5:29 p.m. on Friday for unlawfully fishing in Trinidad and Tobago waters.
...
“It isn’t good enough because Trinidad and Barbados are basically the same nation. The two are CARICOM countries and they could help one another. Fifty per cent of things in Barbados mark Trinidad so I feel they could ease the situation.
