T&T: ANR Robinson, a look back at history

In August of 1990, Robinson was T&T's prime minister. He

... faced down terrorists at the barrel of a gun and then uttered that immortal phrase, "Attack with full force", to the forces of authority at the time....
Robinson could say this with confidence because he had the Defence Forces and the people of T&T behind him. That Aristide had neither, he only had some of the people, was entirely his own fault. Furthermore,
[g]iven his internationally recognised and demonstrated commitment to democracy, to the supremacy of constitutional governance and the rule of law, [when] Mr Robinson peered inside the widening cauldron in Haiti and declared that Aristide should have realised by now that he could not govern the country he leads
his words carried weight, not only in T&T, but also in the rest of the world.
