USVI: Tax you till you bleed

Tax collections continue to outpace last year's levels, but the government's top financial advisers are not yet ready to declare an end to the territory's fiscal crisis.

Citing increases in income, excise and hotel tax revenues, Internal Revenue Director Louis Willis told the Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday that collections are improving but that it is simply too early to determine whether the government's finances will rise out of the red.
They never have enough; it will never be time to say we've got enough. Once the government has its hands in your pockets, they don't take it out until cockroaches can break their necks in them.
