Atg: Gov't slow to investigate corruption
Deputy Chairman of the Antigua & Barbuda Electoral Commission Bruce Goodwin has voiced his disappointment with the government's apparent slowness in investigating allegations of bribery and undue influence by the MP of St. Peter Asot Michael during the run-up to elections. This is not at all promising.
"I had called on the government to make a comprehensive investigation into that campaign," Goodwin told the SUN, "but as far as I am aware, nothing has been done and I am very disappointed in the lack of response and the apparent lack of will on the part of the government and its candidate of the area, Joanne Massiah, to do anything about the very serious allegations that have been made concerning the levels of bribery and undue influence that allegedly characterised Mr. Asot Michael's campaign."
