Bdos: Info tech sector outsources to Barbados

BARBADOS is reaping increasing benefits from the outsourcing of tasks in the information technology sector by United States corporations.

Minister of Industry and International Business Dale Marshall said yesterday that as more offshore companies looked for cost-effective locations to do their business, Barbados was preparing its real estate  to handle them.

During a tour of the Barbados Investment and Development Corporation (BIDC) buildings at the Harbour Industrial Park, the minister said call centres represented a “significant opportunity” for Barbados.

Management at a number of call centres he visited agreed. They revealed plans to increase staff and office space because they were either increasing their client base and/or production levels.

The managers also said clients were “happy”  and “satisfied” with  the standard of work  Barbados produced.
