Atg: Caricom to U.S., up yours!

ST. JOHN"S, Antigua (CMC) - Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer said the Caribbean Community (Caricom) grouping will insist that the Organisation of American States (OAS) investigate the circumstances surrounding the controversial removal from power of Haiti's former President Jean- Bertrand Aristide.

Spencer, the Caricom chairman, was reacting to a call, made by the US Ambassador to the OAS John Maisto, that the regional states withdraw its request to the hemispheric body.

Maisto met with Spencer here last Wednesday, but the PM said he reiterated the position of his colleagues that Aristide's removal from power in February should be the subject of an inquiry.
