Gya: Special treatment for Caricom staff

Director of Caricom's Legislative Drafting Facility Duke Pollard wants more to be done to ensure the safety of the Secretariat's employees and their families, who he thinks may be at great risk.

Pollard's concerns come after an attempt to burgle his home two weeks ago and the lacklustre response of a private security firm, whose guards he suspects might have been colluding with the crooks.

The incident has led him to complain to Police Commissioner Winston Felix who he has asked to take the necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of his family and home.
What about Joe Six-Pack who has to live with the crime and can't call the police commissioner to complain? This incident ought to have spurred a call for law enforcement to be tough on crime, rather than for special treatment for Caricom staff.
