TT: Muslimeen threatens to decapitate government

SECURITY AROUND several of this country's leading figures in the Government and the Judiciary has been heightened and officers are on full alert following credible information received by various intelligence units regarding threats from the Jamaat-al-Muslimeen.

Among those whose lives have been threatened are President George Maxwell Richards, Prime Minister Patrick Manning, Chief Justice Satnarine Sharma, Attorney General John Jeremie and Chief Magistrate Sherman McNicolls.

Meanwhile, the National Security Council, which is chaired by Manning, will meet in an emergency session today to discuss heightened security concerns.

The Express learned that the threats surround two court cases involving the Jamaat's leader, Imam Yasin Abu Bakr, and his close aide, Olive Enyahooma-El.

But Abu Bakr last night denied any knowledge of the alleged plot.

When asked if he was involved in any plot against the officials or had any knowledge of it, Abu Bakr said: "The questioner knows the same as the one who is being questioned."
