Cuba: Health care for oil?

WITH the arrival of a new group of Venezuelan patients, the total number of sick persons from that country to have received medical attention in Cuba now totals 6,491, reported Dr. Pedro Llerena, director of La Pradera Hospital in Havana.

This new group, made up 67 Venezuelans suffering from diverse conditions and their 58 companions, were passengers on the 97th flight in this kind of cooperation between the two nations.

The beneficiaries will be attended to in Cuba’s 45 health centers, Llerena explained. Among the patients that his hospital has cared for is international soccer star Diego Armando Maradona of Argentina.

Some of the main medical conditions for which the Venezuelans are to receive treatment include ophthalmological, orthopedic, angiological and cardiovascular problems.
