Vzla: Take your forces and go

Radio Nacional de Venezuela reports: The Venezuelan Defense Ministry asked US Defense and Air Force attaché Lee Bauer to withdraw US military personnel and vacate the installations currently being used by the US military mission in Venezuela. The Ministry needs the facilities for Mission Vuelvan Caras and Plan Simoncito.

An official communication states that beginning May 30, 2004, "any agreement, pact, or authorization for the residence of the United States of America military mission, or any of its dependencies within the installations assigned to the Defense Ministry or the different components of the National Armed Forces (FAN) of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela" will be terminated.
If there are treaties concerning this and pre-existing the Chavez regime, this decision will cause trouble.

One wonders what else is afoot, especially since Castro has personnel in Venezuelan ministries. What will Caricom say, I wonder?
