Arba: Chloroform bandits reach Aruba

People walking back to their cars after having used the ATM to get money, can be approached by strange people asking to buy perfume.  The bank customers that smell the perfume get stupefied with ether or chloroform and become sleepy.  The criminals then get their chance to rob the unsuspected bank customers.  Justice has an example of these kinds of crimes.  Instead of using perfumes, they use the air-conditioning.  The criminals put cotton drenched in ether or chloroform into the air-conditioning at the outside of the house.  When the residents of the house turn on the air-conditioning, it will blow the ‘strange’ smell into the house, and the residents start to feel ‘heavy’ and cannot get out of bed easily.  This way the criminals can get into the house and the residents can do nothing due to the chemicals that they have inhaled.  The ministry also warns for burundanga.  Somebody carrying a piece of paper approaches people in the streets with a story about not being able to understand the language used for the verbiage.  The unsuspecting persons agree to read and translate the verbiage.  However, the piece of paper may contain burundanga, a substance that has the same effect as ether or chloroform.  People become sleepy and the criminals can easily rob the victim.
For years, bandits in TT have been breaking and entering using these means. Apparently the news of their success has now spread to Aruba.
