Cay: Cayman Islands supports oppression of Cubans
The group of Cuban migrants that arrived in the Cayman Islands by boat between 23 and 27 April were repatriated to their native country last Wednesday, according to a press release issued by the Portfolio of Internal & External Affairs. It would be interesting to know what Caymanians think of the U.S.'s wet-foot dry-foot policy.
A contingent of uniformed officers drawn from the Immigration Department, the Royal Cayman Islands Police Services, the Prison Department and the Customs Department escorted the 19 migrants to Cuba.
This was the third group of Cuban refugees that has been repatriated to Cuba so far this year.
The repatriation of the Cuban migrants was in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Cayman Islands Government and the Cuban Government on 15 April 1999.
