U.S.: Back to my sherry drinking ways

The bug is gone ... thank you, God! Now, apart from some brief periods of fatigue, I'm back to drinking sherry. Hey, a fair enough bottle is cheaper than a six pack of good beer.

What's my idea of good beer? Foster's. Guinness. Schlafly's. Killian. Moose Drool -- this one I discovered several years ago on a visit to Montana. I remember the first time I had a Foster's after a break of about ten years. Drank the whole can and it knocked me out. I saved myself from passing out by going directly to bed. Didn't pass Go, didn't collect $200.

Then there are some quality ales out there. One of my favorite is a Brit one called Young's Dirty Dick's Ale. I've had some fun with Dirty Dick's. I've tried to introduce it to male friends. No man I know is willing to admit that he'd put a Dirty Dick in his mouth. Ah, well. Life is like that. The women I know think it's hilarious. I do, too, that's why I egg the guys on to try a Dirty Dick.

The microbrewery stuff is really good. No Bud or Michelob or any of that jazz. When I drink beer, I want real beer. None of this lite stuff. Schlafly's has a really great Scotch Ale that comes out in the Lenten-Easter period. Good rich ale, wonderful flavor. Ran in to this ale in Colorado, Flying Dog Ale; it was far better in the mountains than on the lowlands. Half of one Flying Dog had the same impact on me as one whole can of Foster's. Altitude and all that jazz.

In TT, I prefer Stag over Carib. Stag is made for a man and good for a woman. Drinking one Carib just gives me a headache and a hangover the next day. Pitiful, simply pitiful. I'm such a cheap drunk. Same effect whether or not I munch on cheese while drinking.

All I need to go along with this is some stimulating theological conversation. Nothing beats God-talk and beer.
