St. Maart: Flood relief for Haiti and DR

ST. PETERS-A special radiothon held over the weekend to raise funds and collect relief supplies for the thousands of people affected by the recent flooding and mudslides in the Dominican Republic and Haiti was very successful.

Leonor Heyliger of the Relief Committee established by the Dominicano Association (ADU) to coordinate the exercise said Sunday that the radiothon on PJD2 over the weekend had raised about US $1,400 plus numerous other donations from the public.

There was a steady flow of members of the public delivering relief supplies to the Association's offices at 14B A.Th. Illidge Road on both Saturday and Sunday.

The relief supplies, which included drinking water, canned foods, used and new clothing, blankets and bed linen, were sorted, packaged and transported to Marigot, from where they will be shipped out to the Dominican Republic today.
