Ja: Kicksin' on terrorism

MOST CARIBBEAN Basin and Central American ports had not met International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code requirements as of June 1, and the likelihood of their compliance by July 1 is low, according to a study by maritime security and risk management company, SeaSecure.

The report lists only ports in the following countries as currently ISPS compliant or likely to comply by the deadline: Aruba, Antigua, Barbados, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Jamaica, Montserrat, St Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and Trinidad & Tobago.

The report also includes a 'risk impact framework' that prioritises high- versus low-risk ports, which shows that the region's higher-risk ports are generally clustered in Latin America, specifically: Colombia, Haiti, Guatemala, Venezuela and El Salvador.
