US: It's about the oil!

...Only not in the same way that the DNC media web attempts to spin the 'Evil Texas Tea' which also happens to feed their sundry studios and luxury car pools with go juice.

Yesterday I was accosted by a zealous Kerryite trying to pry current oil prices into their "quagmire" storyline.

He/She posted an article from Apr. 01 (i.e. April fools day) claiming Bush was rebuffed by OPEC who were cutting production with the intention of slapping the President for his Republican imperialism - thus causing the current spike in prices at the pump. Although they didn't link their report (from Knight Ridder/Tribune), the opening pseudo-quote led me to the following Google Cache link to this article of leftist faith:
President Bush is "disappointed" OPEC decided to cut oil production even as U.S. gas prices skyrocket, but he will not personally lobby oil cartel leaders to change their minds, his spokesman said.
Regardless of whichever was the chicken or the egg in the narrative of the day It is closely mirrored in this CNN piece from that same particularly foolish day:
President Bush is "disappointed" that OPEC decided to stick with its plan to tighten oil supplies, the White House said Wednesday.
Unfortunately the real - apparently forgotten - story of the democrat's "disappointed" oil price meme plays out in yesterdays Financial Times - to whit: OPEC has raised output to meet demand.

"Oil production is at record highs, and it is fairly clear that today's high prices are primarily caused by strong demand the result of healthy economic growth."
In other words - months of the Democrat's desperate rhetorical malaise has had - however temporarily - the desired effect on the markets...In essence they've bloviated their way into a disconnect between supply, and the demands of an expanding economy. It seems to me their hopes are that it'll give them some extra time to rail about 'the economy', and maybe ratchet down the President's poll numbers a couple more points.

I guess the "blood for oil" meme has finally flip-flopped its way on over to the Democrat's ever-expanding glue factory of bad ideas...

I'm waiting for their red/green-wingers to somehow recycle it back into their luddite-brown emotional narrative. After all, it seemed to get outstanding mileage amongst their 'useful peacenic' foot-soldiers.

Anyway, I'm off to fill-up my fascist SUV of insourced evil to drive around for no particular reason. Maybe I'll go see the latest Gore comedy flick - Either today, or The Day After Tomorrow...

Have a great weekend.
