Bdos: Grenada's piling on

Barbados is receiving the support of a former Grenada attorney-general in its dispute with Trinidad and Tobago over fishing and maritime boundaries.

Dr Francis Alexis, who is also a constitutional expert, has called on Grenada’s government to get involved in the issue immediately and stake its claim.

It could lose big economically, he warned.

At a joint Press conference yesterday with law of the sea expert and maritime consultant, senior attorney Anselm Clouden, the two urged government to immediately form a commission that would look after Grenada’s maritime interest.

The two experts noted that the controversial 1990 treaty between Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela not only negatively affected Barbados and Guyana, but Grenada as well.

How long before St. Vincent, St. Lucia, St. Kitts & Nevis join in to protect their "maritime interest"?
