Cuba: Pointy-heads in the land of the unfree

FOREIGN intellectuals joined with national figures to endorse the significance of Cuba’s cultural development – in particular its popular diffusion – and to write paragraphs of praise on the state of its literary life in a kind of collective autograph.

The visitors commented on public attendance at the fair as a reflection of the country’s reading level, linking it to the literacy campaigns and cultural promotion in the early years of the Revolution, and its continuous universalization of higher education.

What about the Cuban intellectuals who are jailed, tortured, killed in Castro's socialist worker's paradise to which these point-heads flocked for their "collective autograph"? Why did nobody speak out on their behalf?
