St. Lca: Lawyer bitch-slaps PM

Lawyer and chairperson of the UWP Youth Arm Cybelle Cenac has yet to elicit a response from PM Kenny Anthony to her scathing letter that appeared in the local newspapers recently.

The war of words between the PM and Ms Cenac, erupted when the lawyer questioned AG Petrus Compton’s announcement that he would be scouting the region in search of magistrates to fill the local posts left vacant by dismissed officials.

Ms Cenac had called on PM Anthony to bin the plan and leave the selection of magistrates to the Judicial Services Commission.

Last Friday, in yet another wordy missive, this is what Ms Cenac had to say in reference to Dr Anthony’s initial response to her platform and media statements:

“In my opinion, your treatment of my letter revealed a coldness of heart and meanness of spirit, unbecoming of a prime minister.

“Workers of the same trade or profession bound or not by a code of ethics, are not, in conscience, to undermine one another.

“In defense of the profession I shall now expound on the principle of the separation of powers. On these legal matters I do not speak for the Youth Arm but only as a lawyer placing my reputation on the line.

She's got a whole lot more words here. In true Caribbean fashion, the girl likes the sound of words neatly put together.
