Cuba: Preparing for war with the U.S.

Since Cuban strategists have concluded that the "imminent" attack by troops of the United States will come ashore on the north coast of Havana province, and in particular near Mariel, west of the city, authorities have begun preparing by taking inventory of the housing in Artemisa, a town just south of Mariel, in order to determine where to take the refugees from the combat zone.

Delegates of the Popular Power (local government) and members of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution in each neighborhood have told residents about the census, which will take in the number and condition of housing units, the number of people, and their capacity to "face the enemy."
...
Thus authorities prepare for the coming war, which residents are not taking vary seriously, making jokes about yet another story the government is telling them to distract them from more pressing concerns
I'm beginning to wonder what Cuba has done or intends to do that might prompt the U.S. to actually strike. Yeah, yeah, I know all that stuff about past assassination attempts on Castro. Contrary to popular expectation, GWB is no fool. He'll not likely attack where no provocation exists. So, people in the Caribbean can pipe down ... unless homicide bombers have suddenly become de rigeur.
