Bdos: Demonstrating against the U.S. on Haiti

THE Clement Payne Movement and the Pan-Caribbean Congress will be staging a protest on the United States Embassy in Barbados on Saturday at 11 a.m., demonstrating against the US’ involvement in Haiti.

President and Co-ordinator of Clement Payne Movement David Comissiong said the move is to denounce “the role played by the Government of the United States of America in undermining the Government and people of Haiti”.

Among other things, Comissiong said the demonstration will focus on, “The role played by the US in starving Haiti of aid and loans over the past four years, the support given by the US to opposition groups and armed rebels, the kidnapping of Aristide, and the US invasion in Haiti”.
Where were these voices dissent when Aristide spent $125 million on independence celebrations rather than on making sure Haitians had clean drinking water? Where was the denoucement of Aristide's broken promises and use of gangs against Haitians? Are Caribbean people to become the Arabs of the West, blaming the U.S. for what their own leaders and partners fail to do?
