Ja: Gamma ray container inspector fights auto theft

THE NEWLY installed mobile Gamma Ray container inspection machines are already reaping results in the seizure of at least one illegal car and a cache of car parts, among other items at Port Bustamante.

The significance of this story is not in what it does to stem the foreign trade in stolen autos, but in the potential of these machines in the war on terrorism. If Jamaica has these, what do American ports have? It may well be the same or something better. So, those who say containers are not being inspected, for dirty bombs and other dangerous weapons, might just have it wrong.
