Bhms: Multilateralism needed

All countries dealing with the effects of the illegal drug trade agree they cannot fight the battle alone. As Attorney General Alfred Sears said, the drug trade is a "global business" and the eradication of illegal drugs and its ancillary crimes requires a global approach.

He also said that the success of The Bahamas in the war against illegal drugs is strengthened or weakened by the success of the United States and the international community in the same war. Furthermore, the international war on drugs requires a global approach; the local war on drugs also requires a team effort inclusive of all the relevant government agencies.

No country can afford to tackle the illegal drug trade alone, and the U.S. is just one of the nations The Bahamas must partner with to fight the narcotics trade.`
