Bhms: Plugging the security holes
Security at presently "relaxed" Bahamian Family Island airports will soon come under "intense scrutiny" to ensure they do not constitute "weak links" in the fight against international terrorism.
...Minister of Transport and Aviation, Glenys Hanna-Martin said, "They [Family Island airports] have been very relaxed ports of passage where people just come in their straw hats and slippers and walk through; but airports are now security-oriented places and we have to be very conscious of ensuring that no weak link exists."
Announcing that the security review will start within a few weeks, the Minister said that any "weak links" of security at airports in The Bahamas could endanger the safety and security of another nation, or even another port of entry in The Bahamas.
