DR: Mejia has bigger cojones than Zapatero

Armed Forces Minister Jose Miguel Soto Jimenez said that the Quisqueya Task Force stationed in Iraq as part of the Spanish-led Plus Ultra Brigade has been attacked eight times in the past 48 hours, as reported in El Nacional. Soto Jimenez said no Dominicans have suffered injuries or deaths, as per his last conversation with troop commander, Colonel Pedro Hurtado Cabreja. News releases indicate that four Salvadoran soldiers of the same brigade were killed and nine others wounded in the clashes. Spanish, Salvadoran, Honduran and Dominican soldiers comprise the Plus Ultra Brigade.

Spanish Prime Minister-elect Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero has vowed to bring Spain’s 1,300 soldiers home before 30 June unless a United Nations force is deployed in Iraq. Spain forms the lead element in the Spanish-speaking brigade that was sent to carry out humanitarian and peacekeeping works. Honduras has announced it will follow Spain's lead and also withdraw its 370 troops by the end of June. Dominican President Hipolito Mejia said the Dominican troops would complete the term of their mission.
Damn that GWB and his unilateralist war. If only he'd form alliances so the U.S. can get help from the international community. All these Spaniards, Salvadorans, Hondurans, and Dominicans fighting in Iraq are just U.S. citizens traveling under foreign passports.
