DR: Tax reform dubious

[T]he head of Internal Revenue... denies that the government has any official tax reform package in hand. This was in reference to news that emerged on Monday which alleged that the VAT (or ITBIS) would be increased to 16% and amplified to include more articles then are currently taxed, and the Selective Consumer Tax that is applied on certain items such as liquor and cigarettes as well as automobiles and other luxury items. Tabar also said that all that the government has at present are suggestions that have emanated from local and international consultants.
