Gya: Guyana in the energy cat-bird seat

GUYANA will be a major beneficiary of mechanisms underway to promote renewable energy development across the Caribbean and to link regional states in a video conferencing facility.

CARICOM Secretary General Edwin Carrington and Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme yesterday signed agreements totaling US$22M for the Caribbean Renewable Energy Development Programme and the establishment of a UNDP/Japan funded project for a CARICOM Video Conferencing Facility linking the member states.

The Caribbean Renewable Project aims to remove barriers to renewable energy use in the Caribbean. Through specific actions to overcome policy, finance, capacity and awareness barriers.
