Gya: Too much rain for rice

Persistent heavy rainfall is threatening rice crops across the country, according to farmers.

The farmers also warn that if the rains continue they stand to suffer huge losses.

Some areas on the West Coast of Berbice have reported some level of flooding owing to persistent rainfall. The situation is not the same in other areas as efficient drainage systems have helped to take some of the water off the land.
I always thought that rice was planted in swampy land -- at least that what I used to see, I think.
