St. Lca: CSME
St. Lucia and other CARICOM territories will have to work a lot harder if the community is to implement the Caribbean Single Market and Economy in early 2005 without a glitch. St. Lucia 's Ambassador to CARICOM Earl Huntely says this was clearly stated in a progress report on the CSME dealt with when Heads of Government of CARICOM met in St. Kitts last month.
St. Lucia alone has some 40 pieces of legislation to amend in order for it to successfully implement the CSME.
The Caribbean Single Market and Economy, the CSME for Caribbean countries will mean one economy, without restriction on the movement of goods, services and people. In order for this to be realized member countries must move restriction which will in any way attempt to control that kind of movement. According to the island's Ambassador to CARICOM Earl Huntely says, to this date all but three countries are at5 an advance stage in the process. They include Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados .
