St. Kts: Waste of time!

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC) - Former Caribbean Community (Caricom) Assistant Secretary-General Orlando Marville believes an independent investigation into the circumstances that led to the removal of Haiti's former president Jean Bertrand Aristide would amount to a "waste of time."

Marville, who has participated in several Caricom missions to Haiti, is therefore calling on the region to focus its efforts on rebuilding the strife-torn former French colony.

"I think Caricom should be getting involved in the process as a follow up. I think one has to do something about the infrastructure in Haiti, about feeding people in Haiti, about providing them with some sort of possibility for health and also about reforming the police system and re-establishing a justice system," he told the Caribbean Media Corp., (CMC) on Friday.
