Bdos: Can't play mas and 'fraid powder

IS JAMAICA, a member state of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), being indirectly squeezed by the United States of America in this Presidential election year with the unravelling of an intensification of punitive sanctions against Cuba?

This question has surfaced with last week’s disclosure in Kingston that the well-known Jamaican entrepreneur, John Issa, is facing the threat of denial of entry visas into the United States for himself, family members and top officials of his company, SuperClubs..

Official reason for this surprising development is that investments in Cuba by Issa’s SuperClubs hotel chain have now been linked to a property reportedly confiscated from Americans following the Fidel Castro-led Cuban Revolution of 1959.

SuperClubs, which has been managing five hotels in Cuba snce 1991, said it hopes to shortly resolve with the United States State Department the misunderstanding that has arisen over its investments in Cuba.
Jamaica is a big girl. She knew what she was getting into with Aristide and with supporting Aristide's scurrilous claims against the Bush administration. If Jamaica has to pay the price, well, that's something she should've braced herself for.
