Bdos: Forensic Files in Barbados

The first-time use of forensic reconstruction has unearthed evidence that a man was shot by police at zero (point-blank) range, meaning the gun nozzle was so close it could have been in contact withhis skin.

Using that same technique, the experts found in another police-related shooting, that the deceased would have been at a distance when he was killed.

The team of scientist Cheryl Corbin, the directorof the Forensic Sciences Centre, and Inspector John Annel, firearms expert in the Royal Barbados Police Force, has been test firing weapons against material similar to the clothing worn by the victim and material that would have a similar resistance to the human body. They made the presentation of their findings using the multimedia technique.
