Bdos: No private beaches
It will never be the intention of the current administration to have beaches in this country privately owned. This was the promise of Prime Minister Owen Arthur as he spoke during yesterday’s parliamentary debates.
Saying the discussion on beaches was an emotive one, he said this decision “reflects a latent concern that we do not allow the need to develop the resources of this country to trample on something that is precious.
Remarking that some other Caribbean countries have private beaches, the representative for St. Peter nevertheless stated this had led to the disapproval of the public.
