TT: Poor Fidel and bad Bushie-wushie

...Mr Bush and the major figures of his administration can be expected to hang tough on the Iraqi POWs affair and use Cuba as a diversion.

The Bush administration has already made known its displeasure over Caricom’s unwillingness to endorse the installed regime in Haiti. Soon enough with Mr Bush raising the heat on President Castro, Caricom can expect that there will be renewed pressures on the increasingly warm Caricom-Cuba relations.

Not only are Caricom countries and Cuba seeking to implement a free trade regime, but several Caricom countries, including this one, have begun to deepen bilateral interaction. Such trade and cultural relations between Caricom and the most populous Caribbean island-state make sense.

Caricom, as a community committed to a joint foreign policy, will be challenged by the known American penchant for bullying to have its own way. On the road to seeking a new term of office, Mr Bush can find ways to be mighty persuasive. The region has to work with the Castro regime and allow the people of Cuba to decide on their leaders and form of governance.
What flippin' fantasy land is this idiot editorialist rom the Guardian living in? What are these Caribbean journalists smoking, sniffing, or drinking? When have the people of Cuba had a chance to "decide on their leaders and form of governance"? Do these nitwit journalists read anything but the European press or watch anything but CNN and the BBC? If they'd read CaribPundit at least they'd learn a thing or two about Cuba, fer cryin' out loud! Meantime, viva Fidel! Fidel! Fidel!
