Europeans Google-slam CaribPundit

Wow!
After reading some of the bigger blogs reporting on the recent deluge of google search hits related to Nick Berg, I wasn't surprised to see that our site traffic has quadrupled (at least) since yesterday- and that's just as of 11am GMT -4.

Charles of Little Green Footballs reported yesterday that at least 50% of their search request hits originated from the Persian Gulf region, so naturally I was curious to see if a similar demographic trend was behind the wheels in our particular traffic lane of the Google Highway autobahn. As it turns out, it is Europeans who are nailing CaribPundit with various 'Nick Berg' 'beheading' 'execution' search strings. Our once exclusively English speaking audience is now (if only temporarily) 1% Polish speaking and our top identifiable domain stats are riddled with Italian, French, German, Russian, Netherlander, and Slovakian origin domains - whereas yesterday we were primarily read by people clicking from the Americas. Even our Central and East Asian/Australian stats are up but not nearly as much as the Euro-hits.

To my reckoning, this huge google frenzy that is feeling-up even our humble corner of the Blogsphere indicates that the world is indeed watching intently - likely out of a morbid curiosity and/or for a hint toward 'Hegemon' America's reaction. The latest terrorist atrocity that snuffed out the life of Mr. Berg has at the very least, struck a global chord.

I know it may be too much to wish for, but I hope this feeding frenzy also indicates that the world is waking up to the real threat posed by Al Qaeda and their Islamofascist ilk. They are the Barbarians at the Civilized world's gate and it's time that Europe recognized that fact.

As during the Nazi and Soviet wars, Americans once again find themselves in the nearly universally resented position of leading the world to safety as our present pack of post-modern Chamberlains kick and scream and throw their comfy little napoleonic tantrums from half-century worn perches under America's protective wings. It's time for them to stop trying to yank out feathers and to at least help to support the wings and claws that have shielded them. It's time for them to choose sides in this war against the Islamist barbarism that threatens all of our collective freedoms...The barbarism that has brought us Homocide bombers, 9/11, 3/11, Daniel Perl, and now Nick Berg.

If the legacy of Mr. Berg is simply helping to bring such a global resolve into being, then I'm confident he'd be smiling down from wherever he is right now.

G_d bless you Mr. Berg.
You did not die in vain.

God bless the United States of America!
